KATHMANDU, July 18: A people’s song written and composed by Shyam Tamot and popularly known as Sankalpa song – ‘Gaun Gaun Bata Utha’ is now a part of Nepathya’s new music video. The song has been a part of Nepathya’s concert for more than a decade. The song was synonym to the democratic movement during the Panchayat regime that ruled Nepal under direct monarchy for 30 years during 1960-1990.

Composed and performed during that era, this song was considered a revolutionary song and hence was barred from being broadcast through Radio Nepal. It was later recorded for a film – Balidan, which was based on the theme of freedom fighters against the Panchayat regime.

The song has now been recorded by Nepathya and the band has released the single on all known virtual stores from ITunes to GooglePlay and Spotify. The single will be included in their yet to be named 10th album.

A video has been cut using footage of Nepathya’s recent Nepal tour. The video also includes audience shots from across Nepal and beyond, captured while Nepathya performed this song.

Nepathya had rearranged and performed the song in their own style. The thumping beat of the song keeps the audience on their toes with positive energy, as they sing along with the band during live concerts.
