Nepathya to perform in western Australia
“This is so far the largest and the most well produced show of a Nepali artist in Brisbane. The turn-out is also overwhelming considering the size of the Nepali population” said Sunil Basnet of Brisbane based Mount 8448 events.
He further said, “It is the first time that I have seen Nepali from all background irrespective of profession and ideology come together to support and participate in one event here in Brisbane. Even in terms of public participation this is the biggest so far in Queensland.”
Nepathya had first toured Australia in 2009 and this is their 5th Australia tour. This is their 4th show in Brisbane and each time the show is getting bigger. Sunil further added, “I now understand the essence how music has the capacity to unite and how Nepathya is a true ambassador for unity.”
The show started with Nepathya’s first recorded song ‘Aganai Bhari’ and from the very start the audience went frenzy singing all songs along. In between, when Amrit announced about performing a new unreleased song, the audience welcomed it with a big applaud. The new song he performed was ‘Naina Tala’, a song sung by the Nepali Gorkha army, who served during British India period. The song then traversed through other British Gurkha regiments around the world and came to the Nepali settlement.
“I had been hearing this song since my childhood from the retired Gorkhali Lahure uncles.” He said explaining the root of the song. “I am glad to see people from all walks of life and age come together to celebrate Nepali music with us. I thank all for their support” Amrit added.
The Brisbane snow was organized by Mount 8848 Events and the Australia tour is coordinated by Sydney based Nepali Touch. Nepalaya are the producers of the tour. Nepathya now leaves Brisbane for Darwin where they will perform on November 22.
The tour will then travel to Adelaide, Hobart and Sydney before concluding in Melbourne.
