One in every four people undergoing tests, testing positive for COVID-19


KATHMANDU, August 11: Nepal recorded 3,481 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday along with 1,885 recoveries and 30 deaths on Wednesday.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 16,656 tests were conducted on Wednesday. Of them, 2616 PCR tests and 865 antigen tests turned out to be positive for COVID-19.


There are currently 38,033 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Of them, 34,813 are in home isolation, 3,220 in institutional isolation, 796 in ICUs and 184 on ventilators as of Wednesday afternoon.


Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 964 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. Of them, 663 were detected in Kathmandu, 109 in Bhaktapur and 192 in Lalitpur districts.


Nepal’s COVID-19 tests positivity rate is still among the countries with highest COVID-19 tests positive rate. Of every four people testing for COVID-19, one is testing positive, according to the spokesperson for the MoHP, Dr Krishna Poudel.
