Nepal calls for strengthening social unity

KATHMANDU, Nov 14: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal said social unity could be further consolidated through protection of languages of all ethnicities, and literature and cultures of all castes and communities.

KATHMANDU, Nov 14: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal said social unity could be further consolidated through protection of languages of all ethnicities, and literature and cultures of all castes and communities.


In a message of best wishes given on the occasion of Nepal Sambat 1144 on Tuesday, Nepal said that various unique arts, cultures and festivities culturally connect people with each other and further unite people from different geographical regions, thereby strengthening national unity.

Nepal, also a former Prime Minister, asserted that the Nepal Sambat which was initiated by national luminary Sankhadhar Sakhwa by relieving people off debt had established the cultural identity of the country and it is everyone's responsibility to promote the cultural identity of the country. He emphasized social transformation through the increase of domestic production and job creation. 


Implementation of the socialist system is essential to achieve a self-reliant economy, according to him. 


Meanwhile, CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli extended best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of Nepal Sambat 1144. 


Chairperson Oli, also a former Prime Minister, took to social networking sites and said that the Newar community celebrate Nepal Sambat as a New Year and they observe Mha Puja (Self worshiping festival) on Tuesday itself.
