KATHMANDU, Aug 6: Newly-elected Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday said that there are challenges ahead to keep the unity of the nation intact by strengthening nation's independence and maintaining Janajati, language and geography united.

"The constitution has been promulgated and historical challenges laid ahead are to implement it with amendment on it if need be," he said, adding that other challenges include speeding up the post-quake reconstructions. Dahal was speaking at a gathering of the Gorkha-Kathmandu Liaison Forum organised by the CPN (Maoist Center).

Saying that the country could plunge into the constitutional and political accident if it failed to hold three elections—local, provincial and parliamentary—within January 2018, the PM said that he has stepped ahead with commitment to address aspirations and the spirit of the people.

In his attempt to avoid criticisms often faced by Nepali ministers and Prime Minister for wasting time in attending inaugural programs of any sorts, the PM said that he feared that he could not serve national interest and aspiration of the people only if he attended such programs.

"I am in favor of talking less and working more. I wish I could work towards fulfilling aspirations of the nation and people instead of only focusing on inaugural programs of any kinds. But I need your (people) cooperation to that end," he said.

Dahal, also Chairman of the Maoist Centre, directed his party cadres to move ahead with feelings that the Maoist Centre has already become a number one party, but not the third one even if it has split many times.
