Giri, who was denied a ticket from the NC, contested as an independent candidate with his election symbol ‘stick’ and won with 507 votes. He also won the previous local level election as an independent candidate. Although the NC took action against for flouting the party's decision, he was later brought back to the party. This time, after failing to get a ticket again, he contested as an independent candidate.
