KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Light to moderate rainfall is likely today at some places in the mountain areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces and at a few places in the mountain areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim Provinces, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
Light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at many places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, and at some places in the hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim Provinces.

Furthermore, light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is likely at a few places in the Tarai zone of the country. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces.
The MFD showed that the country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, with a partial influence of westerly winds. The monsoon trough is currently located south of its normal position.
