KATHMANDU, June 1: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba congratulated newly-appointed External Affairs Minister of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, on Saturday.
In his message, Deuba said, "I would like to warmly congratulate you on your appointment as the Minister for External Affairs of the Government of India." Deuba, the leader of the opposition, has expressed confidence that Jaishankar will be highly successful in taking India’s external affairs to new heights.

"Given your long experience and contribution to India’s Foreign Service, I am confident that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi ji, you will be highly successful in taking India’s external affairs to new heights," read the message.
"Fondly remembering our personal acquaintance and meetings in our previous capacities, I am sincerely hopeful that the relations between Nepal and India will be further strengthened during your tenure as the Minister of External Affairs. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration," the message added.
Jaishnakar, the former Foreign Secretary of India, was appointed the External Affairs Minister of the country on Friday.
