Podcasts are a great way to learn more about a topic you’re interested in. Researchers have found out that hearing a human voice narrate information interacts with your brain the same way an interesting story does, keeping it engaged and helping your brain retain this information quickly and for a long period of time. This week, we bring you eight podcasts that provide vital information and advice on health, fitness and nutrition that could go a long way in keeping your fit and healthy.

TEDTalks Health

TEDTalks Health isn’t really a separate podcast run by TED—rather it is just a compilation of all health related TEDTalks given by various experts. But TED created this seperate channel just for the health-related issues back in 2012 so that listeners don’t have to navigate through thousands of other TEDTalks just to find ones on health, fitness and nutrition. A total of 155 episodes have been uploaded to this channel till date and on some podcasting apps, the channel can be found under the name TuneIn Health instead of TEDTalks Health.

The Model Health Show

Shawn Stevenson, nutritionist and author of books like Sleep Smarter, The Key to Quantum Health and Eat Smarter, hosts a weekly podcast called The Model Health Show. The podcast has long episodes whose runtime ranges between one hour to an hour and 30 minutes. This podcast that started in 2013 has over 400 episodes.

Modern Love

Good health isn’t just about how fit you are and how you feel physically. It’s also about your mental state. The New York Times Column Modern Love is perfect for those who are interested and invested in mental health and the complexities of relationships. Its podcast format goes a step further as celebrities read the heart-wrenching personal essays. The stories—basically experiences and contemplations on love, loss and life—are heartbreaking, funny and uplifting at the same time. With over 170 episodes, this podcast gives you a lot of things to ponder on—excellent for those days you feel a little down and need some perspective.

The Doctor’s Kitchen

But with Optimal Health Daily, this seemingly herculean task can be a breeze. It scours the web for the best blog content and reads it for you. The episodes address the latest health and fitness trends and issues and answer pressing questions as well.
