The doctors said all health parameters of Bhandari were normal but they decided to keep him on a ventilator for 48 hours, while putting him on antibiotics.
A cooking gas cylinder explosion at his residence in Shankhamul on Wednesday evening left Dr Chandra Bhandari and his mother severely injured. Both were taken to Kritipur Burn Hospital yesterday where Bhandari’s mother Harikala Bhandari passed away at 10:57AM yesterday while undergoing treatment.
Earlier, the Kritipur hospital had recommended taking both of them to a well-equipped hospital outside the country as further treatment is not possible in Nepal. It is said 25-30 percent of Chandra Bhandari's body and 70 percent of the 86-year-old mother Harikala Bhandari's body received burn injury as a result of the explosion.
