KATHMANDU, Jan 17: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Dr Chandra Bhandari has successfully undergone one surgery in Mumbai for his burn injuries on Friday. He was flown to the Mumbai-based National Skin Burn Hospital in an aircraft belonging to Shree Airlines on Thursday afternoon as his health condition deteriorated.
According to Chief Surgeon Dr Sunil Keswani, the surgery took more time than expected due to the deep injury on Bhandari's right leg. He, however, said that the injury in the left leg was mild and the surgery of both the legs has been completed. The doctors attending to MP Bhandari mentioned on Thursday that efforts were on to double his body fluids.
It is said that Bhandari has to undergo two surgeries on Friday itself. However, the decision regarding the second surgery will be decided only after observing his condition, according to the hospital sources. The doctors said all health parameters of Bhandari were normal but they decided to keep him on a ventilator for 48 hours, while putting him on antibiotics.

On Wednesday night, MP Bhandari was injured in a fire accident along with his mother. His mother Hari Kala Bhandari breathed her last on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at Kirtipur Burn Hospital. The incident took place after an electric short-circuit occurred in the kitchen, which was believed to be filled with gas that leaked from a cooking gas cylinder.
