KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padma Aryal has urged the people involved in the field of cooperatives to invest in productive sectors.
Addressing a programme organized to mark the 9th anniversary of Nepal Cooperatives Journalists' Society in the capital on Thursday, Minister Aryal asserted that the scheme of 'one municipality-one agro farm' should be promoted via cooperatives. She recalled that she had launched the scheme from Syangja district sometime ago.

Currently, the total capital investment of the cooperatives across the country stands at Rs 700 billion. There are 35,000 cooperatives, providing employment to some 65,000.
At the programme, Chairman of the National Federation of Cooperatives, Keshab Badal, stressed the need for amending the Cooperatives Act 2074.
