Microfinance borrowers return home after 14-point agreement with govt

The protest was called off after representatives of the borrowers and the government reached the agreement during talks on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: Microfinance borrowers who had been staging a sit-in outside the National Human Rights Commission office in Pulchowk, Lalitpur, have returned home following a 14-point agreement with the government.



The protest was called off after representatives of the borrowers and the government reached the agreement during talks on Saturday.

Following the agreement, the government arranged Sajha Yatayat buses from 8:50am Sunday to transport the borrowers to their respective destinations.


A total of 323 borrowers were sent home in eight buses in the presence of officials from various government agencies.


Borrowers from Jhapa, Morang, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Sindhuli, Bara, Parsa and Nawalparasi, among other districts, were transported towards their respective areas.
