Bajgain, originally from Santapur-8 of Rautahat District, was arrested from his rented room at Gaurighat-7, Kathmandu.[break]
Identifying himself as a reporter and marketing officer of Uday Nepal, a monthly magazine, Bajgain had been threatening bankers and doctors around the country since the last few months, according to Dinesh Achrya, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
DSP Acharya said, “He used email account mgroup1111@gmail.com to issue threats of abduction and killing and make demands of Rs 25 to 30 lakhs.”
Preliminary investigation revealed that Bajgain had misused citizenship of Santosh Khanal of Tanahun district and photograph of co-worker Bhanubhakta Dhungana to get a SIM card of Nepal Telecom. Police said he was also using a Facebook account to threaten by masquerading as a Kathmandu-based member of a Mumbai underground group.
DSP Achrya informed Bajgain had not succeeded in collecting money from any of the people he had threatened.
The police on Monday also arrested a man from Balaju for trading in body parts of endangered animals. According to DSP Jagadish Pokhrel, a team of CIB arrested Kirtiman Singh, 48, from Gurans Cafe following a tip-off.
Singh was found possessing skin of Royal Bengal Tiger and Red Panda.
