KATHMANDU, June 1: Jagadamba Lumbini FC and CMG Sankata Club bagged wins in the ongoing Lalit Memorial Youth U-18 Football Championship on Thursday. 


In the matches played at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato, Lumbini registered comfortable win of 2-0 over the Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) while Sankata hammered the Brigade Boys Club (BBC) 8-0.

With the wins, both Lumbini and Sankata have strengthened their chances of making into the quarterfinals. Both Lumbini and Sankata are at the top in group C and D respectively with equal six points from two matches. 


Meanwhile the HSC has just three points from two matches and will have to win next match against New Road Team (NRT) to keep its semifinal hope alive. 


In the first match of the day, Lumbini produced both goals in first 10 minutes of the first half with Prince Gurung and Amrit Gurung scoring in the 4th and 9th minute respectively. 

Similarly, in the second match of the day, Dipesh Ale Magar solely scored four goals for Sankata in its 8-0 win over BBC. 


The highest goals scorer of the championship Dipesh netted in the 7th, 31st, 48th and 77th minute. Sankata's striker Dipesh has now six goals to his credit in the competition. Other scorers for Sankata were Ranjit Gurung and Laxman Gurung. Ranjit stroked goals in 13th and 21st minute while Laxman added another in the 89th minute. Victorious Sankata also got one goal as gift from BBC with Subash Giri scoring in his own net in the 51st minute.
