Lama scored 76 at the Royal Nepal Golf Club´s par-67 course on Sunday to clinch the winner´s trophy in the U-20 age group. [break]
Tanka Bahadur Karki finished second with a score of 84, while Sandesh Khanal finished second runner-up with a score of 85 in the U-20 age group of the tournament played under stroke play scratch handicap format.
Tenzing Palden scored 79 to win the U-16 category while Raju Diwakar (84) and Suryansh Chaudhary (85) claimed silver and bronze medals in the category.
Pratima Sherpa lifted the title in the girls´ section with a score of 81 while Sonam Ongdi claimed the silver medal with a score of 83.
Fourteen young golfers, who finished the tournament with a score of at least 28-over 95, have qualified for the Faldo Series. The qualified golfers are Raj Kumar Lama (76), Tenzing Palden (79), Pratima Sherpa (81), Sonam Ongdi (83), Tanka Bahadur Karki (84), Raju Diwakar (84), Sandesh Khanal (85), Suryansh Chaudhary (85), Rahul Agrawal (85), Lakpa Sherpa (86), Rishav Acharya (89), Prithivi Malla (90), Praveen Yakthumba (92) and Som Raj Paudel (94).
The junior golf tournament would be the topmost golfing event hosted by Nepal so far and will feature young golfers from Bhutan, Bangladesh, India and host Nepal. Nepal Golf Association (NGA) and Gokarna Forest Resort are the joint organizers of the event.
The Faldo series will feature male and female golfers compete in two age categories -- 12 to 16 and 17 to 21. At least four golfers -- two winners each from boys´ and girls´ sections -- will be selected to compete in the grand finale of the seventh Faldo Series Asia at the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen, China.
