KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Subash Tamang extends his lead after the second round of the CMS Faldo Series Nepal Championship at the Gokarna Golf Club on Tuesday.
Tamang, 16, produced a brilliant six-under 66 to take nine-strokes lead over Sukra Bahadur Rai.
Tamang is at the seven-under 137 going into the final round.
Rai carded even-par 72 for a total of two-over 146 and is overall second and leading the pack of boys’ 17-21 category.
Sam Doublard carded three-under 69 on Tuesday for a total of four-over 148, and is overall third and second in his age category of 12-16.
Tamang, Rai enter Faldo Series Asia grand final round
Binod Tamang came back with another four-over 76 for a total of eight-over 152, and is third at age category of 12-16.
Bipin Tamang is fifth overall and in second position on age 17-21 at 16-over 160, he carded eight-over 80.
Among the girls, Kashmira Shah is leading with 32-over 176 as she carded 15-over 87 on the day.
Prativa Rai is second with 34-over 178 as she played 21-over 93. Likewise, Juny Gurung is third with the total score of 189.
Leader Tamang opened the day with a par and made birdies on second, third, and fifth holes to score three-under 33 on the front nine.
On the back nine, he made birdies on 10th, 13th, 14th and 18th holes but three-putt bogey on the par-5 15th hole made him score three-under 33. Rai scored two-over 38 on the first half.
He made birdie on the fifth hole but dropped shots on second, third, and sixth holes.
On the back nine, he made double-bogey on the par-5 11th hole but came back strong by making eagle on 12th and birdies on 13th, 14th and 18th holes but also dropped another shot at 17th for two-under 33.
Doubblard sank an eagle chip on the first hole, added birdie on the third, then double-bogey on the fourth and birdies on sixth and seventh for a three-under 33.
On the back nine, he made birdies on 15th and 18th holes against bogeys on 11th and 16th holes for an even-par 36.
