KATHMANDU, May 12: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has taken action against 61 people for distributing advertising materials within the Kathmandu metropolitan area.
On Friday, action was taken against 61 people who were distributing advertising materials of the campus in different areas of KMC.
Raju Nath Pandey, Chief of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Force, said the action was taken as they did not give heed to their instructions not to distribute advertising materials around campuses.

The KMC had earlier issued notices not to distribute or keep advertising materials such as leaflets, posters, within the metropolitan area.
Pandey said that 61 people were penalized on Friday and if such mistakes are made again in the coming days, the punishment will be increased.
“Kathmandu Metropolitan City has repeatedly issued requests and notices not to distribute leaflets, posters and other advertising materials within the metropolitan area. We brought those who distributed such posters to the KMC office and brought them on charge of violating the notice,” he said.
“Since it is the first time, we have fined the organizations at the rate of Rs 5000. We have brought 61 people. We will fine them at the rate of Rs 5000 each. If people continue to do this, the fine amount will increase further.”
