Kathmandu District Court orders to hand Rabi Lamichhane over to police

The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the police to take Rabi Lamichhane, the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), into custody. He was brought to court in connection with the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative fraud case in Kathmandu. District Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari's bench issued the order on Sunday, instructing the police to present him again in court.

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the police to keep Rabi Lamichhane, the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), in detention.


Former home minister Lamichhane presented himself before the court on Sunday in connection with the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative fraud case in Kathmandu. District Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari's bench issued the order on Sunday, instructing the police to present him again in court.

Lamichhane, appeared in court on Sunday morning, where the authorities recorded his statement throughout the day.


After completing Lamichhane's statement, Senior Advocates Sushil Pant and Raman Shrestha arrived in court for the debate. Spokesperson for the court Amar Bahadur Chand told Republica that the District Government Attorney Office told the bench that they had not yet studied Lamichhane's statement and could not proceed with the debate. "Following this, the judge issued the order to the police to keep Lamichhane, who had been released on bail from Pokhara, to go into judicial custody today." he said.
