KATHMANDU, March 6: Reports on bail orders issued by two district courts in cooperative fraud cases against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane have reached the High Court.

The Kaski District Court had earlier ordered his release on bail of Rs 6.5 million in the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case, and its report has now been submitted to the High Court in Pokhara. Similarly, the Rupandehi District Court had set bail at Rs 10 million in the Supreme Cooperative fraud case, with the report reaching the Butwal bench of the Tulsipur High Court. The bench is expected to schedule a hearing next week.

The Pokhara High Court is delaying the hearing until reports from other petitions related to the Supreme Cooperative fraud case are received. Meanwhile, the Butwal bench of the High Court received the report on Wednesday and will determine whether to hear Lamichhane’s case alongside that of former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, who has been ordered into judicial custody for trial in the same case.

A government attorney has filed an appeal against Lamichhane’s bail order at the High Court, requesting a review. The case concerns unauthorized fund transfers from Supreme Cooperative to Gorkha Media Network.
