KATHMANDU, April 15: Judge Bhuwan Giri, accused of marital rape, has been imprisoned following a court order.
Giri, who appeared at the Kathmandu District Court on Monday, was ordered to be sent to Dillibazar Jail.

Chief of the District Police Range Kathmandu, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhupendra Bahadur Khatri said that Giri was sent to jail along with the order of the district court.
On April 3, the Supreme Court (SC) issued an order to imprison Judge Giri on charge of marital rape. A division bench of SC Justices Hari Phuyal and Til Prasad Shrestha overturned the orders of both the district court and the high court, which had previously ordered Giri's release on bail.
Judge Giri was suspended after being accused of a criminal offense while working at the District Court, Kapilvastu.
