KATHMANDU, Aug 25: The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal has again sought explanations from three of its provincial lawmakers who voted in favour of the Lumbini provincial government.
The party’s central office in Balkumari, Lalitpur, has sought fresh clarification from Santosh Kumar Pandey, a provincial assembly member from Rupandehi Constituency 3(1); Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Hema Belwase (KC); and Bhandari Lal Ahir, a provincial assembly member from Banke Constituency 2(1).
The party said it had clearly instructed its lawmakers on Bhadra 1, 2083, not to support the incumbent Lumbini provincial government and to vote against it. However, after the three lawmakers voted in favour of the government in defiance of the party directive, they were previously asked to provide explanations.

According to the JSP-Nepal, the explanations submitted earlier by the three lawmakers did not align with the spirit of the party’s policies, decisions and directives, nor did they provide satisfactory answers to the questions raised by the party.
The party has now asked the lawmakers to clarify why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for violating the party directive, whether party members are permitted to act against its policies and directives, and how their actions should be treated under the party statute and existing decisions.
The three lawmakers have been instructed to submit their explanations to the central office within 24 hours. The party warned that disciplinary proceedings would be initiated in accordance with its statute and existing decisions if they fail to respond within the deadline or if their explanations are deemed unsatisfactory.
The letter, signed by JSP General Secretary Dr Surendra Kumar Jha, reminded party members that complying with the party’s policies, decisions and directives is an obligatory responsibility of every member.
