Integration works kick off at 4th division camp

KAWASOTI, Sept 7: The preliminary task of selecting the Maoist fighters into the Nepal Army (NA) at the Nawalparasi-based fourth division camp has begun on Friday.



According to the source, of the 123 fighters who applied for the integration, preliminary task of selection of 72 combatants has completed so far.[break]



A team led by NA Colonel Lok Prakash Chand has been assigned to complete the task.



The Maoist former combatants opting for integration have enthusiastically been taking part in the selection round and the task is expected to be completed by tomorrow, said Sadanandan Kurmi, member of the Special Committee formed for the supervision, integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants.



They participated in 300- meter race and completed other physical tests this morning. According to Division Vice-Commander Basudev Ghimire, of the combatants opting for the integration, some 30 are capable for the officer-level post.



Selection process of the combatants except for officer- level will take place in the camp itself. Selection round of the officer- level will be held at the NA Chitwan office, said NA Colonel Chand.
