HoR passes Monitoring and Evaluation Bill-2080 unanimously

KATHMANDU, March 1: A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Friday unanimously passed the 'Monitoring and Evaluation Bill-2080'.


Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, on the behalf of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal presented the proposal seeking the passage of the bill.

The bill along with the report of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee was passed after discussion in the HoR meeting.  


The bill that originated in the National Assembly has an objective of making monitoring and evaluation of development policies and plan, programme and project systematic. 


On the occasion, Minister Sharma shared that this law was necessary to ensure public accountability and for making the development process result-oriented and transparent. 


The government has set a target to make monitoring and evaluation activities regular and periodic and make heads of public bodies accountable specifying their responsibilities.  


The HoR will hold its next meeting on March 4.
