Home Minister arrives Helambu to distribute 'warm relief'

SINDHUPALCHWOK, Jan 21: In a bid to distribute ‘warm relief’ to the quake-ravaged people, Minister for Home Affairs Shakti Bahadur Basnet has arrived here in Helambu, a popular Himalayan village known for tourist destination.

During the trip, Minister Basnet is distributing relief package to more 1000 households in the area.




Earlier, the government had announced additional relief package to earthquake victims living in high hills and Himalayan regions who are being badly affected due to extreme cold.

According to Narayan Paudel, a VDC secretary, Minister Basnet  is begining the relief distribution from Ghyangul VDC.



Minister Basnet, who reached Chautara, the district headquarters, flew to Helambu carrying top officials at the district.



Athough the relief distribution program was supposed to attend by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli,Minister Basnet replaced him in the eleventh hour.


According to Paudel, there will be warm cloths, blankets and mattresses in the warm relief package including the Rs 10,000 in cash.


Following the start of heavy snowfall, the life in the high hills of the district was hit hard.
