Handicraft becoming lucrative business for women in Dang

DANG, April 17: Local women have been making a good income by engaging themselves in different professions and businesses.


They have been successful in generating attractive incomes by manufacturing various handicraft and related materials.


Sarita Chaudhary, a local of Lamahi Municipality-5, said that after she started making handicrafts, she found it easy to manage household expenses and save regularly.

Chaudhary has been engaged in this business by establishing a company - ‘My Handicraft Industry' which makes handicrafts. She claimed she was also preserving art and culture by involving herself in such work.


According to her, the sale of handicraft items related to the Tharu community is good. I earn from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 a month easily.


Like Sarita, Sunita Chaudhary has also been involved in handicraft production which is a good income source for her.


Sunita, who learned the skills three years ago and started producing handicraft materials, says she is earning up to Rs 20,000 a month easily. She also shared that it was a good way to spend the leisure time left after completing the household chores. 


"It does not take much time as we have to produce handicraft items along with household chores," she further said.
