Gulmi Nepali Congress launches 50-day drive against social ills

GULMI,  May 21: Nepali Congress, Gulmi has started a drive against social anomalies and aberrations in various places of the district as part of the second phase of its 50 days mega campaign entitled 'Let Us Go to the Village and Enjoy in Village Itself'.

GULMI,  May 21: Nepali Congress, Gulmi has started a drive against social anomalies and aberrations in various places of the district as part of the second phase of its 50 days mega campaign entitled 'Let Us Go to the Village and Enjoy in Village Itself'. 


The Gulmi Nepali Congress is implementing the second phase of its campaign through the Nepal Women Association's workers. The NWA is a sister wing of the Nepali Congress. The mega campaign is underway in the district since five weeks.

Under the mega campaign, the party representatives and NWA activists conducted various public awareness programmes including rally and corner meetings on banishing various social ills such as caste discrimination, child exploitation, domestic violence, violence against women, dowry system, social discrimination and alcohol abuse. 


The campaign has been launched in Simaltari, Shantipur, Shringa, Bamitaksar, Tamghas among other places in the district. 


Association's district secretary Bishnu Kumari Sapkota said even some localities the names of which are offensive to certain castes would be changed under the campaign. The Gulmi Nepali Congress plans to carry out the campaign at all the 93 local level wards in the district.
