Govt to distribute winter clothes to 6,000 families in mountainous region

KATHMANDU, Jan 10: The government said it will distribute warm clothes to 6,000 families of earthquake victims in mountainous region.

During a meeting of Parliament’s Development Committee on Sunday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli informed that the clothes will be provided to victims to cope with chilling cold.

Earlier, the government had provided Rs 10,000 each family to buy winter clothes.

PM Oli said that government has already released Rs 5.99 billion to quake victims for purchasing warm clothes. Among the amount, Rs 4.90 billion has been distributed till Thursday night, according to him.

He presented data that 482,757 families have received the amount, adding that the government aims to provide the relief amount to 599,620 families.

Saying that victims are falling sick due to extreme weather, he said that the government is yet to decide on whether sending medical teams or teams of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force of Nepal Army.Earlier, the government had provided Rs 10,000 each family to buy winter clothes.
