Govt approves India visit of Foreign Minister Rana

KATHMANDU, Aug 16: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Arzu Rana, is to embark on a five-day visit to India from August 18. 

A cabinet meeting held on August 15 approved the India-visit programme of a delegation headed by Foreign Minister Rana, said Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung.  

Similarly, the government is to accept a concessional loan worth USD 150 million from the International Development Association of the World Bank. The cabinet has given permission to form a team under the coordination of a joint-secretary of the Finance Ministry to give final shape to the financial agreement and programme document regarding accepting the loan. 

As per the information provided in a news conference organized at the Communications Ministry on Friday, prior-permission has been given to Lalitpur Metropolitan City to establish sister city relationship with Ulan-Ude city of Russia. 

Similarly, the meeting also decided to remove obstacles for the renewal of licenses of the foreign employment agencies failing to send at least 100 Nepalis for foreign employment annually for two consecutive fiscal years—2022/23, 2023/24.  

The government has given permission to a delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel to participate in the Ninth annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank scheduled to be held in Uzbekistan from September 9. 

Likewise, the Council of Ministers has also given permission to the office-bearers of the Public Service Commission to participate in capacity building programmes to be organized in London from September 21-October 1. 

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has got permission to participate in the Eighth International ‘Dharma Conference’ to be organized in India from August 21-25.  

Similarly, the government has decided to provide Rs 300,000 prize each to 14 Nepali players participating in ‘CAVA Women’s Volleyball League 2024’.  

Minister Gurung, who is also the Spokesperson for the government,  shared that the cabinet has decided to award and honor the main coach of volleyball with Rs 200,000, manager with Rs 100,000 and assistant coach and physio with Rs 120,000 each. 

The cabinet meeting also decided to transfer 59 Non-Gazetted first class officers as well as joint-secretaries upon the recommendation of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.  

The meeting has appointed Patan High Court Judge Sudarshan Raj Pandey to the post of legal member and chairman of the Revenue Tribunal Office, Pokhara.
