With an aim to support secondary school teachers of Nepal Adarsha Secondary School in Ganabahal, Daya Foundation has donated Rs 330,000 to the school, recently. A total of 11 secondary school teachers received Rs 30,000 each, where the rest of the amount for the laptops will be contributed by themselves.
6,000 laptops donated to community schools across country
According to a press statement released by the school, private school students are continuing their studies using devices and laptops to learn online but the government school students’ education has almost come to a halt. Most Government school teachers do not have computer skills and hesitate to buy computers even though they know that they can be more effective in teaching using technology. To address this issue of inequity in education during the COVID -19 pandemic, Daya Foundation has given incentive to Nepal Adarsha Secondary School to assist teachers financially to buy laptops.
Principal and Vice-Principal of Nepal Adarsha School and Chinikaji Maharjan, Wada No. 22 President handed the laptops on 28 April, 2021. School Alumni Raju Man Maharjan helped to choose the computers. Raj Maharjan will start basic computer skill training in house virtually through zoom during the lockdown.
As a token of thanks to Daya Foundation Vice-President Meekha Mathema’s training, Kasthmandap Vidhyalaya and John Dewey School have provided few mobile phones for the marginalized students to go online.
It added that students of Nepal Adarsha will have the chance to continue their learning through online educational activities. They will be able to use the device to join the lectures, turn in assignments, collaborate and do research with their friends in Google docs and will be able to access any knowledge online.
