Girl injured in leopard attack in Baitadi

BAITADI, July 28: A teenage girl has sustained injuries in an attack by a leopard in the district.

According to District Police Office, 15-year-old Kamala Mahat was injured as a leopard that barged into human settlements attacked her at Udayadev-7, Rathadi on Monday evening.


Local Birendra Mahato said the girl was cutting grass nearby her house when the incident happened, adding they chased the leopard away hearing the girl's call for help.

Kamala, a seventh grader at Chandra Deval School, has received injuries in her neck and chest. She has been rushed to Far western Regional Hospital after treatment was not possible at local health post.

It is second incident of attack by the wild animal in less than a month.

On July 13, 6-year-old Lalita Saud of Udayadev-5 was injured in a similar incident.
