Gautam, Silakar in boxing quarterfinals<br/>Judo players' selection for SAG begins

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Anil Gautam and Laxman Silakar secured their berth in the quarterfinals of the Second Nationwide Boxing tournament being held in Lalitpur on Sunday. They defeated Bijaya Tamang and Yubaraj Gurung respectively in men´s 48 Kg weight category. [break]



Hasta GM, Manoj Maharjan, Chandra Jyoti Thapa, Surendra Darlami, Dhrista kumar Shahi and Suresh Budha Magar also booked their places in the quarterfinals of the same weight category.



In men´s 51 Kg, Pradip Pudasaini, Rajesh Kumal, Dipendra Patel, Keshab Gurung, Prakash Shrestha, Lakshuman Tamang, Babu Lal Hemram and Top Bahadur Bohara defeated their respective opponents in the pre-quarterfinals.







Likewise, boxer of Armed Police Force Purna Bahadur Lama reached the quarterfinals of men´s 57 kg category. In the same weight category, Yogesh Gurung, Nila Kantha Khanal, Dhana Kumar Mainali, Gopal Shrestha, Bijaya Shrestha and Surendra Karki secured quarterfinals berths.



Bisnu Suhang confirmed next round of bout in women´s 46 kg category while Mala Rai and Nisha Gaire also won their second rounds in the weight group.





Judo players´ selection for SAG begins



KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Nepal Judo Association has begun first phase selection of judo players for the upcoming 11th South Asian Games (SAG) to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.



Rajan Joshi has been selected for second phase in above 100 kg, while Kaluman Tamang and Alen Maharjan have been selected in the 100 kg category.



Similarly, Raju Shrestha and Naresh Giri in 90 kg, Karan Bahadur Bam and Sri Ram Makaju in 81 kg, Deepak Krishna Shrestha, Shiva Baral and Rajkumar Chand in73 kg, Ramesh Magar, Prakash Nepali and Sher Bahadur Dam in 66 kg have been selected for the second round.



In 60 kg, Saroj Maharjan and Parshu Chaudhary have been selected for the second round.



The selection was held at the Multi Purpose Hall, Nayabazaar.
