Garment trader Agarwal arrested on charge of running hundi and illegal gold trading

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Garment trader Naresh Agarwal has been arrested. He was arrested by the Department of Revenue Investigation (DoRI) on charges of hundi (illegally remitting money from abroad) and illegal gold trading.

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Garment trader Naresh Agarwal has been arrested. He was arrested by the Department of Revenue Investigation (DoRI) on charges of hundi (illegally remitting money from abroad) and illegal gold trading.


The DoRI's team raided his residence in Chhetrapati on Thursday night and recovered Rs 20 million in cash.

The DoRI suspects that Agarwal is involved in gold, hundi and cryptocurrency transactions. The DoRI team recovered 2,000 US dollars from Agarwal's house.


A team of the DoRI along with a team of armed police reached his house. The DoRI is conducting its own custody investigation.


Along with Agarwal, two more accomplices have also been taken into custody by the DoRI. The names of the other two have not been disclosed.


It is said that further investigation is underway regarding the matter.
