Excreta free region declared

BUTWAL, Jan 29: The Simanagar settlement of landless squatters in Shankernagar Village Development Committee (VDC) has been declared open excreta free zone.



Locals of the landless squatters community of around 400 households with low income status took initiatives themselves to make their settlement neat and clean.



Each household of the settlement of the Shankernagar VDC was provided five cemented rings and siphon set for toilet construction on the joint efforts of District Development Committee, Shankernagar VDC, Shankernagar Drinking Water Corporation and Shankernagar Forest Development Committee.



The settlement is freshening with the use of toilets by the locals, chairperson of Simanagar Tole Development Committee Om Gurung.



The announcement of charging Rs. 1000 to those defecating openly has made locals aware on the use of toilet.
