Eight players share lead

KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Eight players shared the lead during the inaugural day of the First Khowpa Invitational FIDE Rating Chess Tournament organized by Bhaktapur Chess Association on Wednesday.



Madan Krishna Kyastha, Bikash Kuluju, Umesh Saiju, Nikesh Duwal (U-19 Nepal Champion), Prajjol Rajopaddhya, Raj Prajapati, Damodar Gaaeju and Krishna Bahadur Duwal won the first two rounds played at the Shree Primary School to jointly secure the first position.



Rajesh Kshapati and Bikram Jati are trailing in the second position with 1.5 points. Thirty four players, including three women are participating in the tournament. The tournament having seven rounds is being played under the Swiss rule.



The first Female FIDE Arbiter of Nepal Sirjana Duwal is running the tournament.
