U-19 World Cup: Four Nepali players listed in ICC’s ‘Players to Watch’

KATHMANDU, Jan 15: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has included four Nepali players in its ‘Players to Watch’ list for the U-19 World Cup set to commence on January 19.

KATHMANDU, Jan 15: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has included four Nepali players in its ‘Players to Watch’ list for the U-19 World Cup set to commence on January 19.


The ICC has listed Nepal’s captain Dev Khanal, Gulshan Jha, Arjun Kumal, and Durgesh Gupta in the ‘Players to Watch’ list for this World Cup.    


Captain Dev and Gulshan have previously played for the national team of Nepal, while Arjun and Durgesh have displayed impressive performances in the Under-19 category.


In the warm-up match played on Saturday, Nepal defeated Scotland with a dominant performance by dismissing them for 7 wickets based on the DLS method adopted after the match got affected by rain. Before this, Nepal had defeated Scotland and Namibia in two unofficial warm-up matches.


Nepal will play its second warm-up match against the West Indies on Tuesday. The  U-19 World Cup, starting from January 19, places Nepal in Group ‘D’ along with Pakistan, Afghanistan, and New Zealand.


Nepal’s first match in the World Cup is scheduled against New Zealand on January 21. Nepal will next face Pakistan on January 24 and Afghanistan on January 26.
