KATHMANDU, June 8: Eight Nepali taekwondo players are set to participate in the Second India Open Taekwondo Tournament to be held in Hyderabad, India. The tournament, which runs from June 11 to 16, will see five men and three women taekwondo players from Nepal participate in the tournament.
The team led by four-time South Asian Games (SAG) gold medalist Deepak Bista has already left for India. Nepal Taekwondo Association (NTA) Vice-President and head coach Nandu Kumar Rai bid farewell to the team during a program organized in the Taekwondo Academy at Satdobato, Lalitpur.

In women’s category, Namrata Tuladhar will represent Nepal in under 64 kg, Kalpana Chaudhary in under 49 kg, Sangeeta Basyal in under 62 kg, Ambika Prasad Ghimire in under 45 kg, while in men’s, Bhupen Shrestha will compete in under 87 kg, Gobind Kumar Ale in under 58 kg, Niraj Deuba in under 68 kg and Anoj Pujari in over 87 kg.
The managers of the team are Mani Raj Bista and Dan Bahadur Airee, while Norbu Lama, Hira Bahadur Thapa, Teeka Prasad Limbu and Min Neupane are the referees from Nepal.
