KATHMANDU, Dec 2: After the complete destruction caused by the 2015 earthquake, the reconstructed historic Dharahara has generated Rs 1.47 million revenue within a week. From the time it reopened to the public with an entry fee on November 24, up until Sunday, December 1, over Rs 1.4 million in revenue was collected.
Acting Project Director for Dharahara operation Prakash Aryal said that around 1,200 people visit Dharahara daily, and the site is closed only on Wednesday. "Since November 24, a total of 8,316 people have visited Dharahara, excluding children under 12 years of age," he said. "Visiting is allowed from 10:30 am to 3 pm. Even in a short period, a significant number of citizens have visited. Due to time constraints, we have not been able to provide tickets to everyone who comes."

Aryal stated that if arrangements are made to allow people to visit Dharahara from morning to evening, it is estimated that around 1,500 people would visit daily. The entry fee for visiting Dharahara is set at Rs 200 per person.
Students, senior citizens, children, and persons with disabilities will be allowed to visit Dharahara on 50 percent discount. Tourists from SAARC countries will be charged Rs 500 per person, while tourists from non-SAARC countries will be charged Rs 1,000 per person.
In accordance with the "Special Structure Operation and Management Development Committee (Formation) Order, 2024," Dharahara has been operational since November 24 with an entry fee. Prior to that, the Cabinet meeting held on November 21 decided to open Dharahara and approve the entry fee. This decision was made based on a proposal from the Ministry of Urban Development.
The authorities have decided to keep Dharahara open on Saturday and closed on Wednesday. Since last Sunday the government has charged a fee of Rs 200 to visit Dharahara. Before that, there was no fee required. The government opened it to the public on September 19 this year to mark the Constitution Day.
For displaying national advertisements on the Dharahara tower, the fee is Rs 5,000 per hour. Meanwhile, commercial video shooting is set at Rs 5,000 per hour, and photography at Rs 1,000 per hour.
