Dhangadhi traffic police accused of collecting money arbitrarily

DHANGADHI, Kailali, Sept 27: The District Traffic Police Office, Dhangadhi is collecting money from drivers in an arbitrary manner in the name of checking vehicles and driving license.



Drivers of vehicles have complained the traffic police on duty in the town collect money from them or in some cases hand them out bills for payment.



Manish Jaiswal who works at a shop at local Traffic Chauraha said a traffic policeman on duty demanded Rs 200 from him.



When the attention of the District Traffic Police Office was drawn to the public complains of the traffic police extorting money from drivers, Deputy Inspector of Police at the Office, Nainasingh Saud said there is provision for taking fine from Rs. 50 to Rs. 500 for traffic offenses.
