CHITWAN, Jan 15: Devotees have thronged Rurukshetra, a confluence of Kaligandaki and Ridi rives on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti on Tuesday.
Rurukshetra lies in the western Nepal, about 96 km to the north of Lumbini and 30 km to the northwest of Tansen.
Kumal community to mark Maghe Sankranti festival in Golaghat
Hindu devotees take holy dips in the confluence at Rurukshetra, believing that it cleanses their bodies and souls free from sins and prepares the souls for salvation.
This festival is also known as Makara Sankranti or Maghi as per the Hindu calendar. It is observed by worshiping deity Surya each year in January.
