KATHMANDU, Jan 5: The Kumal community has prepared to mark the Maghe Sankranti festival with much fanfare this year. The Kumal community observes the Maghe Sankranti as its greatest festival.
The Kumal Samaj Nepal has decided to observe this festival at Golaghat in Chitwan by gathering the members of the community from across the country. It is said that as high as 6,000 members of this community from some 70 districts are expected to gather in the celebration.
PM Oli extends Maghe Sankranti wishes
Chairman of Samaj Tel Bahadur Kumal shared that a decision has been made to celebrate this festival at Golaghat, the meeting point of Narayani and Rapti rivers in Bharatpur.
He shared that the traditional costumes will be showcased and cultural programmes will be conducted in the festival.
Kumal said that typical Kumal houses, their cultures and other heritages would be promoted and demonstrated in the festival.
The total population of the Kumal community is around 130,000 in the country.
