Development should be carried out without affecting tourist destinations: Minister Shrestha

KATHMANDU, August 15: Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha has said that development should be done in such a way that tourist destinations are not affected.


Addressing the annual general meeting of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), the umbrella organization of mountain tourism businessmen on Monday, he said that development should be carried out in such a way that the tourist destinations are not affected.

Minister Shrestha emphasized that Nepal should be made a tourist destination where tourists come all year round. He said that Nepal should attract tourists by promoting the fact that Nepal is open for tourists throughout the year. He said that a campaign has started that every Nepali living abroad creates an environment for at least one foreigner to visit Nepal.


He said that the government is proceeding keeping in mind that the tourism sector will be further developed and promoted. Shrestha also said that the government is committed to organizing, attracting and promoting the trekking sector.
