MORANG, March 18: Keeping in view of the protest activities that started following the naming of Koshi province, District Administration Office (DAO), Morang has declared some places of the district as prohibited areas.
After a series of protests, sit-ins and processions by various groups and parties who disagreed with the name of the province, the local administration has declared prohibited areas to ensure that the regular works of the provincial as well as federal government are not harmed. A prohibited area has been declared for 6 am Sunday until further notice.
Province 1 officially named as Koshi Province amid protest
The local administration has designated a prohibited area from Devkota Chowk to Paschim Koshi Hospital in the East of the Provincial Assembly, from Rodshesh Chowk to Dakshina Jatuwa Chowk, Chief Minister and Council of Ministers Office, up to 300 meters around the Chief Minister's residence and from Danfe Chowk to the east of the District Administration Office in Morang.
The local administration has said that the decision was taken to keep the security situation smooth and normal. All kinds of meeting, procession, gathering, rally, sit-ins are not allowed in the designated areas until the new notice is issued.
According to the District Administration Office, it is prohibited according to Section 693A of the Local Administration Act, 1971. The administration has mentioned in the notice that if it is found that the mentioned actions are done in violation of this order, action will be taken according to the prevailing law.
