Six Nepalis injured in UAE debris incident, one critical

The debris from the intercepted objects fell in the Al Ajban area, causing injuries to civilians.

KATHMANDU, April 4: At least six Nepali nationals were injured, including one critically, after falling debris struck an area in Al Ajban in the United Arab Emirates, authorities confirmed on Friday.



According to an official statement issued by the UAE authorities and shared by the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the incident occurred following the interception of aerial threats by the country’s air defence systems. The debris from the intercepted objects fell in the Al Ajban area, causing injuries to civilians.

The statement said that six Nepalis and five Indian nationals sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate, while one Nepali citizen remains in critical condition.


“Competent authorities confirm that the incident led to injuries sustained by six Nepalese nationals and five Indian nationals, ranging from minor to moderate. Additionally, one Nepalese national sustained a critical injury,” the statement noted.


The authorities have urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and avoid spreading rumours or unverified reports.


In a separate update, the UAE Ministry of Defence said its air defence systems had intercepted multiple ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran on April 3. The ministry noted that the broader attacks resulted in multiple casualties and injuries involving several nationalities, including Nepalis.


The UAE government reiterated its readiness to respond to threats and safeguard national security, while investigations and response measures related to the Al Ajban incident continue.
