KATHMANDU, May 19: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), following a weeklong slump, inclined 19.30 points to close at 2,628.36 points on Monday.
The secondary market opened at 2,609.05 points, gradually inclined and reached the day’s high at 2,639.47 points within the first one hour. The index then slowly declined and reached as low as 2,616.06 points when the trading time was left for 33 minutes. The market recovered around 12 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.
Nepse posts 61-points weekly gain
Out of the 13 groups, only hotels and tourism plummeted 86.85 points. Non-life insurance, by adding 137.29 points in its index, was the highest gainer.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies increased 4.15 points. Daily turnover amount however declined to Rs 7.35 billion from Rs 8.50 billion on Sunday.
Among individual companies, 185 were gainers while 60 were losers. Radhi Bidyut Company had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 597.63 million.
Saptakoshi Development Bank was the topmost gainer. Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited shedded the largest of 10 percent of its market value.
