However, Khatiwada said that preparations are being made for the meeting within two days. He is in favor of forming a Unified Socialist alliance in the local elections. The other ruling party, the CPN (Maoist Center), also insists on forming an alliance and going to the polls.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also the president of the Nepali Congress (NC) party, is positive about the alliance. Deuba has even instructed some party office bearers and central members not to speak out against the alliance. However, it is not certain that the coalition will continue in the local elections.
The current five-party alliance led by the NC was formed after the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli dissolved the parliament for the second time.
