Political parties announce their candidates for local polls in Sindhupalchowk

SINDHUPALCHOWK, April 26: Various political parties have registered their candidates for various posts of all local governments in Sindhupalchowk district for the upcoming local elections slated for May 13. 


The ruling alliance Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) and the opposition CPN-UML and RPP are contesting in the district for the upcoming local polls. However, the NC, the Maoists and the Unified Socialist have formed an alliance in two places while a Maoist-Socialist alliance has been formed in the remaining local units.


In Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, the NC has nominated Pasang Norbu Lama for the post of chairperson and Dechen Lama for vice-chairperson. The CPN-UML has nominated Amrit Khadka and Suntali Maya Shrestha for the same posts, respectively. Likewise, CPN (Maoist Center) has nominated Raj Kumar Poudel and Asha Gurung for the posts. 


In Baharabise Municipality, the NC has nominated Bal Krishna Basnet for the post of chairperson and Manju Tamang for the post vice-chairperson. The CPN-UML has nominated Nim Phunstok Sherpa for the post of mayor and Sushila Pakhrin for deputy mayor. Likewise, CPN (Maoist Center) has nominated Buddharaj Basnet and Patli Thami for the respective positions.

In Tripura Sundari Rural Municipality, the NC has fielded Bhaktadhwaj Bohara for the post of chairman and Geeta Nepal for the post of vice-chairperson. Similarly, the CPN-UML has nominated Meghnath Poudel and Sabita Shrestha, while the CPN (Maoist Center) has fielded Birkha Bahadur Shrestha and Meena Lama for the same posts respectively. 


In Lisankhu Pakhar Rural Municipality, the NC has nominated Jetha Tamang for the post of chairperson and Babita Yonjan for the post of vice-chairperson. The UML has fielded Surya Bahadur Lama and Mithu Lama while the CPN (Maoist Center) has nominated Raju Lama and Ram Maya Tamang for the same posts.


In Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, the NC has fielded Shrawan Kumar GC and Kanchhimaya Tamang for the post of chairman and vice-chairman while the CPN-UML has nominated Tapindra Timalsina and Manju Bhandari for the same posts. Meanwhile, the CPN (Maoist Center) has fielded Archana Khadka and Durga Thapa. 


In Belafi Rural Municipality, the NC has contested Subash Timalsina and Saru Lama for the posts of chairman and vice-chairman. The UML has also nominated Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Sapana Thapa for the same posts respectively, while Ganga Bahadur Tamang and BP Thapa are contesting from the CPN (Maoist Center).


In Chautara Municipality, the NC has nominated Keshab Raj Giri for the post of mayor and Tulsi Maya Shrestha for the post of deputy-mayor. Similarly, the UML has fielded Indra Bahadur Nepal and Balkumari Sapkota for mayoral and deputy-mayoral posts. Likewise, the CPN (Maoist Center)-CPN (Unified Socialist) alliance has nominated Krishna Prasad Sapkota and Sita Thapa for the same posts respectively. Meanwhile, Amansi Tamang is fielding independently for the post of mayor. 


In Jugal Rural Municipality, the NC-CPN (Maoist Center)-CPN (Unified Socialist) have jointly nominated Resham Syangbo (Maoist Center) for the post of chairman and Himal Shrestha (NC) for the post of vice-chairman. Similarly, the CPN-UML have nominated Jay Bahadur lama and Sunita Thapa Tamang for the same posts. 


In Indrawati Rural Municipality, the NC has nominated Bikash Lama as chairman and Daya Laxmi Mishra as vice-chairman. The UML has nominated Jhamak Nepal and Sobhana Tamang while the CPN (Maoist Center) has fielded Thula babu Shrestha and Sumitra Basnet for the same posts.


In Melamchi Municipality, the NC has fielded Aitaman Tamang as the mayoral candidate and Sabita Gurung as deputy mayor. The UML has also fielded Bal Krishna Deuja and Uma Devi Pradhan for the same posts, while the Unified Socialist-Maoist Center has nominated Nani Ram Chaulagain and Devendra Ghorasaini. Also, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has fielded Ses Bahadur Tamang and Kumari Tamang for the respective posts. 


In Helambu Rural Municipality, teh NC has fielded Nim Gyalzen Sherpa and Apsara Lamichhane for the post of chairman and vice-chairman. Similarly, the UML has nominated Dawa Lama and Aryal Khadka while the CPN (Unified Socialist) -CPN (Maoist Center) alliance has nominated Pema Hyolmo (Maoist Center) and Sudan Pakhrin (Unified Socialist) for the same posts. Meanwhile, Jimi Lama is fielding independently. 


In Panch Pokhari Rural Municipality, the NC- CPN (Maoist Center) - CPN (Unified Sociailist) alliance have nominated Dorjee Shyangba and Ganga Chapagain for the post of chairman and vice-chairman. Similarly, the CPN-UML have nominated Tashi Lama and Sunita Adhikari  while the RPP have fielded Udaya Sapkota and Kamal Chapagain for the same posts.
