KATHMANDU, Sept 12: The number of people infected by novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has reached 4,886 in Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC). Of the infected patients, 1,262 have recovered while 3,168 are undergoing treatment, KMC said.
Chief of KMC's Public Health Division, Hari Kunwar shared that 471 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals while 1,524 others are staying isolated at their homes and 1,227 are in isolation facilities run by the local governments and different organisations. Thirty-one persons have so far succumbed to the infection in the metropolis.

According to Kunwar, so far the contact tracing of 10,529 persons has been carried out in all the 32 wards of KMC.
Ward 15, has recorded the highest number of infections with 469 confirmed cases. Similarly, ward 16 has 366 cases, ward no 3 has 315 cases while the wards 4, 7, 8,9,10,11,13,14, 26, 27, 28, 29, 31 and 32 have more than 100 cases.
Ward 27 has reported the most cases of fatalities due to this viral infection as four people from this ward were claimed by this disease.
KMC has currently mobilised volunteers at each of the wards in a bid to expand the domain of testing for coronavirus.
