KATHMANDU, May 15: The health ministry confirmed as many as 8,167 new cases of the coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours. With 8,046 people testing positive for the disease through RT-PCR tests and 121 others through the antigen tests, Nepal’s COVID-19 case tally has jumped to 447,704.

Meanwhile, a total of 5,455 people got over the illness in the past one day, taking the country’s recovery rate to 74.4 percent. As many as 109,740 patients, however, are yet to recover from the disease as of Saturday afternoon.
Officials confirmed at least 187 fatalities due to the viral disease on Saturday. With this, the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 has reached 4,856.
