KATHMANDU, Oct 14: The construction of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-15, Chitwan, is progressing rapidly.
The construction works of the stadium have not halted even during Dashain festival. Currently, 10 percent of the stadium's construction has been completed. The Bharatpur Metropolitan City is collaborating with the federal and provincial governments to advance the stadium's development.
After the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation was unable to continue the work, Bharatpur metropolis took ownership of the project and expedited the construction works of the project. The ‘Himalayan Kalinchowk BBR JV’ has been awarded the contract to carry out the construction work.

According to Santosh Acharya, the divisional engineer of the metropolitan city, the foundation has been laid beneath the parapet and work has begun with the removal of the upper layer of the field. The BIBAR JV started the construction work in the month of Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August) last year.
Bharatpur Metropolitan City's Mayor, Renu Dahal, stated that the contract for the stadium's construction was awarded for Rs 785.1 million, with the goal of completing the project by the end of Poush (mid-December to mid-January) 2083 BS.
The federal and provincial governments have allocated Rs 500 million for the construction of the stadium in the current fiscal year. Work is being carried out in two shifts daily at the stadium.
Mayor Dahal stated that work will continue even during the festival season. To ensure there are no interruptions in the construction, a technical team led by the divisional engineer of the metropolitan city has been arranged for direct supervision of the project.
